THE NIGHTINGALE AND THE ROSE UNIT-3 SUMMERY

summary Ø The Nightingale promises to give the Student a red rose, built with her music and stained with her own heart’s blood, asking only that he be a true lover.   Ø The Student listens but cannot understand her words, as he only values book knowledge.   Ø The Oak-tree, who loves the Nightingale, feels sad and asks her to sing one last song before she leaves. She sings beautifully, like water from a silver jar. Ø The Student, however, dismisses her sacrifice, saying she has style but no sincerity, and believes her music has no real meaning or practical use. Ø He then returns to his room, lies on his bed, thinks about his love, and falls asleep.
