💡 What are Quantifiers?

Quantifiers are words used before nouns to show how much or how many of something we are talking about.

👉 Examples: some, any, much, many, a lot of, few, little, enough, several, all, both, each, every

1️⃣ Some

Used mainly in affirmative sentences with plural countable nouns and uncountable nouns.

✅ I have some books.

✅ There is some water in the bottle.

2️⃣ Any

Used mainly in negative and interrogative sentences.

✅ I don't have any money.

✅ Do you have any questions?

3️⃣ Many

Used with plural countable nouns.

✅ There are many students in the class.

✅ How many books do you have?

4️⃣ Much

Used with uncountable nouns, especially in questions and negative sentences.

✅ I don't have much time.

✅ How much water do you need?

✅ many books

5️⃣ A Lot of / Lots of

Used with both countable and uncountable nouns.

✅ She has a lot of friends.

✅ We need a lot of water.

6️⃣ Few

Used with plural countable nouns. It means not many and generally gives a negative idea.

✅ Few students understood the question.
➡️ Not many students understood it.

7️⃣ A Few

Used with plural countable nouns. It means some and generally gives a positive idea.

✅ I have a few friends here.
➡️ I have some friends.

⭐ Few ≠ A few

8️⃣ Little

Used with uncountable nouns. It means not much.

✅ There is little hope of success.

9️⃣ A Little

Used with uncountable nouns. It means some.

✅ There is a little milk in the glass.

🔟 Enough

Means as much or as many as necessary.

✅ We have enough food.

✅ There are enough chairs for everyone.

Used with plural countable nouns. It means more than two but not many.

✅ Several students were absent.

✅ I have visited several places.

1️⃣2️⃣ All

Used for the whole quantity or group.

✅ All students must attend the class.

✅ All the water has been used.

1️⃣3️⃣ Each

Used for two or more people or things considered separately. It takes a singular noun.

✅ Each student has a book.

✅ Each of the boys is ready.

Used for all members of a group individually. It takes a singular noun.

✅ Every student must submit the assignment.

✅ I go there every day.

1️⃣5️⃣ Both

Used for two people or things.

✅ Both boys are intelligent.

✅ Both answers are correct.
